Schwarzkopf Professional Creative Team Competition

Sorry for having been off the radar a little, we’ve had an extremely busy month! The Guildford and Wimbledon hair salons entered the Schwarzkopf Professional Creative Team Competition which took place on the 15th April so we’ve spent a lot of time preparing. All entries were based on Essential Looks Spring / Summer 2010 collection so they were really current hair styles and very on trend. It was fun being able to experiment with the hair to create a multitude of looks. The Wimbledon branch based our entry on the Cyber Sport collection which was made up of 4 models ie 3 girls and 1 guy. We wanted to use sport but with a futuristic edge. The Guildford John Carne salon based their collection on Punk Goddess.

We all had a great time participating despite not winning the grand prize! Our Wimbledon team consisted of Alexandra Manton (me!), Jayde Rabbetts, Nigel Harvey and Darren Read.

Anyway finger’s crossed for the next competition…

Lights, Camera, Action!

Fresh from the Easter break the John Carne team headed to west London studio, The Worx to shoot the new collection – THE EDGE.

Andy Smith led the team with top photographer Colin Roy, celebrity make-up artist Lee Pearson and super stylist Claire Frith creating images to inspire, fresh for the new season.

Taking inspiration from strong lines, the collection is a riot of shape and colour so watch this space! Celebrating 30 years this year, John Carne have shown why they are still at the cutting edge!

John Carne Hairdressing Has Talent!

Schwarzkopf Professional has announced that our very own Billie Davey (see image attached) from John Carne Hairdressing has made the 2010 Young Artist Team.

Schwarzkopf Professional made the following announcement:

After a day of intense competition in front of an elite industry judging panel the eight stars were selected. The judges included award winning hairdressers Desmond Murray, Mark Woolley and Leo Bancroft as well as the leading trade press journalists; Marcell Gardner (Creative Head), Charisse Kenion (Salon Business), Nicola Shannon (Professional Hairdresser) and Alice Martin (HJ). These talented youngsters proved their skills and technical know how, by not only illustrating their take on upcoming trends, but also by taking to the stage to present their work and model in front of all the judges.

2010’s YAT are in for a treat with such exciting opportunities as their very own photo-shoot, training from Schwarzkopf’s illustrious ambassadors, stage presentations and a wealth of education sessions. All led buy YAT leader Catherine Adams “I am delighted to be mentoring the Young Artistic Team for 2010, it’s going to be a fantastic year for us all. I know we are all ready to go and make the most of the amazing opportunity that YAT offers.”

Bumbles Salon

Hi there,

It’s Andy here, the Art Director. Just wanted to fill you in on my news as I’ve been pretty busy here but also with another salon called Bumbles. They invited us to help them with their customer care so I spent the day with them highlighting how we at John Carne Hairdressing tend to our clients needs. Bumbles booked in 4 clients for me to practise on so that they could see me in action! I had to treat the clients as though they were enjoying the same form of customer care which we aspire to at John Carne Hairdressing in order for Bumbles staff to learn from our salon. Hopefully they all found it really useful….

i-Phone Happy At Wimbledon!

John Carne Hairdressing has been getting in touch with their customers through a series of giveaways to encourage younger people to get in touch with their style at John Carne. We ran a competition for our under 18s to enter and the lucky winner was Barnaby Oates. Pictured on the right hand side here (pictured on the left hand side) with our lovely stylist Nigel. We also gave away a trendy iTouch to another client called Charles Pexton (pictured in the green top to the right) through our stylist Darren Read.

Kevin, Manager at the salon says: It’s so important that as a salon we stay in tune with our clients and we want them all to know that we value each and every single one of them!

Teen Envy for iPhone

One lucky client has been fortunately enough to get her hands on a FREE iPhone thanks to the team at John Carne Hairdressing. The salon had a showcard inside stating that all teens who got their haircut with us automatically entered a free draw to win a must have iPhone courtesy of John Carne. Alicia who is a regular client at the salon was picked out of hundreds of hopefuls.

Alicia, aged 14yrs old: I couldn’t believe it when Kelly, my stylist told me! I’ve been coming to John Carne Hairdressing for years because of the great deals on their website and also the offers for young people such as myself. I’m so excited to have an iPhone as all my mates have one.

Kelly, stylist: I’m really happy for Alicia. She’s got a gorgeous mane of hair and now she can accessorise it with her iPhone! At John Carne Hairdressing, we feel it’s really important to show young people just how vital their hair is to their appearance and that we know what it’s like to be young and want to have great looking hair but without the budget to fund it! Busy Business!

Hi Folks,

Just wanted to fill you in on what I’ve been up to behind the scenes at John Carne Hairdressing. I’ve been busy doing a 2 year foundation degree in Business Management at Greenwich University which I’ve been gratefully supported by John and the rest of the team. It’s been a tough slog as whilst working at the salon I’ve also been juggling giving presentations on accounting, employment law etc etc ontop of having to submit 5,000 word dissertations every 8 weeks for the module course, so it’s hardly been a walk in the park! It’s been fascinating and has really benefited my job role here with regards to helping to solve issues and people management whilst also helping with the logistics of running a business.

Anyway, after a gruelling 2 years I’ve finally past so John treated me alongside the rest of the team to a meal out on the town in Guildford the other week to celebrate which was lovely! It meant a lot to me having so much support – and we had a great night out…

HAIRraising!!!

Hi Folks,

I hope you’re all having a great week so far. Just wanted to fill you all in on our New Year’s resolution – we’re going to be working in conjunction with Great Ormond Street Hospital with HAIRraising. The aim is to help raise £1million towards new operating theaters for the hospital. In the near future we’re going to be organising a series of fundraising events and inviting you our customers to add a £1 donation to your bill towards Great Ormond Street Hospital!

Anyway, we will keep you updated on our fundraising events in due course!
